Vitamins E and C Ease Endometriosis Pain

VITAMINS CAN EASE ENDOMETRIOSIS PAIN

Vitamins C and E may help combat the painful condition endometriosis.  Researchers have discovered that women given a high intake of the vitamins suffer far fewer symptoms than a placebo group.

Endometriosis, in which cells that usually line the womb are found elsewhere in the body, affects 2 million UK women and can cause pain & infertility.  In the study at the Joan C Edwards School of Medicine, West Virginia, women aged 19-41 were given 800mg vitamin E and 500mg vitamin C, or a placebo daily for 8 weeks.

The pain in the treatment group improved by 43%, compared to no change in the placebo group.  Researchers say the high levels may help reduce inflammation and so lower pain.  They say these amounts should be taken under medical supervision.

Ed’s note: I would advise a Vitamin E Complex rather than straight d alpha tocopherol which is what you usually get. Vitamin E is a complex of several vitamin Es, if you like, a bit like the B Complex. They work together. I would also use a gentle ascorbate form of Vitamin C. I have also found that removing wheat and dairy plus a magnesium spray on the painful pelvis can really help.
