Joint Pain Relief

For those of you taking glucosamine products, you may wish to look at a new Biocare product which now contains my favoured glucosamine hydrochloride (not sulphate, note) and MSM, plus other really good anti-inflammatories including curcumin (turmeric) and quercetin in useful amounts.

Called, unsurprisingly, Joint Support it is different to the Nutrigold Joint Support Formula I normally recommend in that it contains these herbal components which, to my mind, makes it more likely to aid pain relief as well as give you the normal joint and collagen support. The Nutrigold one contains nutrients to support strong collagen so you would be best with this if you aren’t taking a  multi formula, whereas the Biocare one is a good one to use if you are on a multi as you will already have some of the collagen nutrients in that (if it’s a good one of course!)

You could take either if you just want the glucosamine and MSM (remember that glucosamine should be in the hydrochloride form for best absorption and that if you combine it with MSM, the effect is far more effective). However, if you need more pain relief, you could take this new Biocare one. The trick is in the curcumin, which is a well-known anti-inflammatory. See my previous post about this wonderful spice extract. Here it is combined with hops and quercetin, both really useful items too.

For best effect with curcumin, research suggests you need 200-400mg 3 x a day, which equates to 3-6 per day of these new capsules. It is best taken with bromelain preferably to absorb more, although with fat (ie meals containing fat or with your daily fish oils) works well too.

Here are the details of the product and you can get it as usual from www.naturaldispensary.co.uk. Ask me if you need more help.

  1. Hi Micki, I use Joint Support Formula you recommended I use and would like to transfer to Joint Support (I’m assuming its different!) mentioned in your notes way back in Dec ’10, because of the link of curcumin, you say is contained in this new product, to reduced Diabetes risk . I can’t seem to find Joint Support as a heading at Nat Dispensary, can you please advise? best regards ken

  2. Hi Ken, quite right, it’s not there but then there are 1000s of products available through ND and not all of them are on the shop. I have sent them a message to ask if it is still available (hope not gone due to the new herbal regs!) and will let you know. Hold fire…
